PPRC met with political parties

The PPRC on Thursday 29th February summoned a meeting with the leadership of all political parties at its Headquarters, Tower Hill, Freetown. The Commission briefed the meeting on progress made by the Technical Committee of the Law Reform Commission (LRC) on amendments made to the Political Parties Act. 

All party  representatives denounced political violence and suggested ways to minimize political violence.  However, the Commission will continue to engage political parties on their views to  minimize political violence. The views or suggestions of political parties will be forwarded to the Technical Committee of the LRC for consideration.  

Other issues discussed with parties relates to the ongoing Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) process and plans to conduct an inter-party dialogue on a date to be confirmed . The eight political parties invited to the meeting are the APC, CDP, NDA, PMDC, PLP, RUFP, UDM and the SLPP.
