On the 28th February 2012, a Fact Finding Mission left Freetown for Gendema and the trip was facilitated by the United Nation Integrated Peace Support Office in Sierra Leone (UNIPSIL). The Mission was at the behest of H.E. The President, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma after consultation with a cross-section of the leadership of the All People’s Congress (APC) Party and the Sierra Leone People Party (SLPP). The PPRC Chaired and took leadership of the Mission. The objective of the meeting included:
- To ascertain the allegation of massive influx of people from Liberia crossing over the Gendema to participate on the ongoing Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) exercise.
- To investigate protests by some members of the Gendema community against such influx on the allegation that some of them are non-residents of Gendema and some non-Sierra Leones
